Sale of Goods & Returns Policy
This policy applies to goods sold through live auctions and Buy Now on AYLENSALE in the United Kingdom. If you buy as a consumer, section 8 and your statutory rights take priority over anything else in this policy.
1. Contracting parties
Unless we expressly state otherwise in writing, the seller named on the lot is the seller of goods. AYLENSALE LTD provides the online auction venue only and is not the seller of listed goods.
2. Nature of goods
Lots are typically job lots, pallets, mixed customer returns, or untested stock (including Amazon returns). They are sold as seen, as described, and untested unless the listing explicitly states otherwise.
3. 14-day returns — as received
You can return a pallet or job lot within 14 days of receiving it, as long as it comes back complete and in the condition you received it, with the original wrap intact.
- Every pallet and job lot leaves us wrapped, and we take photos at handover. When you collect or receive it, you confirm the lot and the condition described on the listing.
- A mixed lot can only be resold as a lot if every item is still in it. If a lot comes back opened, incomplete or used, we deduct the loss in value from the refund, up to the full price where missing or damaged items mean it can no longer be resold. We will tell you how we worked out any deduction.
- Tell us through your order page or at support@aylensale.com before sending anything back, and return the lot to our warehouse within 14 days of telling us. Unless the lot was misdescribed or faulty, you cover the cost of returning it.
- We refund to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving the lot back and checking it.
- Business buyers: this is a voluntary returns promise from us. Consumers: it sits alongside your legal 14-day right to cancel in section 8, and does not reduce it.
4. Inspection and due diligence
You must read the listing, ask questions before bidding, and inspect or collect goods as arranged. By bidding you confirm you have evaluated the lot description and disclaimers.
5. Limited claims only
Claims relating to goods may be considered only for material misdescription or non-delivery as set out in our Disputes Policy, within stated time limits and with evidence. We do not guarantee outcomes. Raise a claim with Report a problem on your order page, with photos, within 30 days of receiving the goods; the outcome may be a partial refund, a full refund, or a refund after return, paid to your original payment method or, if you choose, as store credit. If goods are misdescribed, faulty or damaged, we pay reasonable return postage. If returned goods come back used beyond what was needed to check them, damaged or incomplete, we may deduct the loss in value and will tell you why. Requests close automatically if we don't hear from you for 10 days, or if goods are not sent back by the return deadline.
6. Collection
Default arrangement is buyer collection from the location stated in the listing unless otherwise agreed in writing with the seller. Risk passes in accordance with the sale contract and applicable law.
Before or at collection we ask you (or the person collecting) to confirm the condition stated on the listing, such as grade, "untested" or "for parts". We keep this confirmation with photos taken at handover. If something is wrong when you inspect the goods, tell staff before you leave or use Report a problem on your order page.
If your own courier or another person collects on your behalf, they act for you: the goods are treated as received when they are handed to them. Claims about visible damage or missing items must include photos taken at or right after collection. Business buyers must report these within 48 hours of collection. Delivery arranged by you is your responsibility, so damage in transit should be claimed from that courier. None of this limits a consumer's statutory rights.
7. Business buyers
If you register or bid as a business/trader, you acknowledge that many consumer protections on distance sales may not apply. You buy for resale or commercial use at your own risk.
8. Consumer buyers
If you buy as a consumer from a trader (including AYLENSALE LTD):
- You can cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Our online auctions are distance sales, so this right applies to auction wins as well as Buy Now. How to cancel, return the goods and get your refund is set out in section 13 of our Terms and Conditions.
- Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply: goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. Faults or conditions we describe on the lot before you buy (for example "untested" or a listed defect) are taken into account.
- Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
