Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how AYLENSALE LTD uses cookies and similar technologies on AYLENSALE.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and analytics tags.

2. Types of cookies we use

  • Strictly necessary: authentication, security, session management, and Stripe fraud-prevention cookies (such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid) on payment pages. When you sign in we also set ay_did, a random device identifier used only to detect fake or duplicate accounts and referral abuse; with it we keep a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself
  • Functional: preferences, language, admin settings
  • Analytics: Google Analytics (cookies such as _ga), only after you allow them
  • Marketing: Google Ads conversion cookies (such as _gcl_au), only after you allow them

2A. Local storage on your device

We also store a few items in your browser's local or session storage:

  • ay-cookie-consent: remembers your cookie choice (strictly necessary).
  • Sign-in, basket and preference data: keeps you signed in and remembers your settings (strictly necessary or functional).
  • aylensale-anon-actor: a random identifier, not linked to your name, used so that a lot's view and like counts are not double-counted.
  • Campaign parameters (such as utm_source or gclid from the link you arrived on): kept for the browser session to measure which ads or campaigns bring customers, only after you allow marketing cookies.
  • ay_ref / ay_ref_30d: the referral code from an invite link, so the person who invited you is credited if you sign up. Kept for the browser session, and for up to 30 days only after you allow marketing cookies.

3. Legal basis

Strictly necessary cookies are used to provide the service. Non-essential cookies rely on consent where required under PECR and UK GDPR.

4. Managing cookies

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics and marketing cookies. Nothing non-essential is set until you choose "Accept all" or switch a category on. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page; when you withdraw, we delete the Google cookies already set. You can also block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may affect platform functionality.

5. Third parties

Payment, security, and analytics providers may set cookies subject to their own policies.

We may update this Cookie Policy. The latest version is published at /legal/cookie-policy.
