Buyer Terms

These Buyer Terms apply to all users bidding or purchasing on AYLENSALE.

1. Bid binding nature

Each bid is a serious offer to buy. Do not bid without intent and ability to complete if you win.

2. Deposits

You must pay and maintain required deposits before bidding on deposit-backed auctions. Deposit treatment is governed by our Deposit Policy.

3. Winning bidder obligations

If you win, you must complete purchase, pay the final price, and comply with seller delivery arrangements within stated timeframes.

4. Inspection and due diligence

You are responsible for evaluating listings, asking questions before bidding, and verifying suitability of goods.

5. Collection, storage and abandoned goods

Pallets and other goods that are not sent by parcel are held at our warehouse (Warehouse 4, Old Manton Station, Oakham LE15 8SZ; Mon–Fri 07:00–16:00 (closed weekends and bank holidays)). Full guidance: How to get your pallet.

  • Choosing a method. You must choose how the goods will leave the warehouse before you complete checkout: self collection (free), your own courier, or an AYLENSALE driver. You may change the method from your order page until the goods have left the warehouse.
  • Collection code. For self collection or your own courier we issue a collection code (format AY-XXXXXX), shown on your order page and sent by email. Goods are released only to a person who presents a valid code. You are responsible for keeping the code secure and for any courier you appoint.
  • AYLENSALE drivers. Where you choose an AYLENSALE driver, you pay a non-refundable £10.00 driver search fee to publish your job, independent delivery partners may then quote for it, and you choose and pay for a quote. Your delivery payment is held by our payment provider, Stripe, and released to the driver only after delivery is confirmed. See "Deliveries by independent drivers" in our Terms and Conditions.
  • Free storage. Storage is free for 3 working days after payment, until 16:00 (UK time) on the last of those working days. A working day is Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays in England and Wales.
  • Storage fees. After the free period, a storage fee applies for each working day that the goods remain uncollected, equal to 5% of the goods price (excluding delivery charges), with a minimum of £10 per working day. For example, goods priced at £400 incur £20 per working day. Goods are released only once any storage fee due has been paid.
  • Abandoned goods. If goods are not collected within 14 working days of payment, they are treated as abandoned. AYLENSALE LTD may then resell or otherwise dispose of them, and the purchase price is not refunded.
  • Reminders. We send reminders by email and in-app after payment, 24 hours before the free period ends, when it ends, and on each working day while storage fees accrue. Not receiving a reminder does not extend the free period.

6. Deliveries by independent drivers

Where you book an AYLENSALE driver for your goods:

  • Driver search service (£10.00, non-refundable). Publishing your job to AYLENSALE drivers is a separate paid service provided by AYLENSALE LTD as the platform operator. The fee is £10.00 (including VAT where applicable), paid by card when you press "Find a driver", before your job is shown to drivers. It is charged for providing the service, not for a result: a driver may or may not be found, and whether a driver quotes, the price and the arrangements you agree with a driver are outside our control. The fee is separate from any driver's price and is not refundable, including if no driver is found, if you do not accept a quote, if you switch to self collection or your own courier, or if a delivery is later refunded. You must tick a box confirming you understand this before paying. Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights.
  • Your contract is with the driver. The contract for the delivery is between you and the independent delivery partner whose quote you accept. AYLENSALE LTD operates an online platform that introduces buyers and drivers; we are not the carrier and do not perform the delivery.
  • Payment held by Stripe. You pay the delivery price by card through our payment provider, Stripe Payments UK Ltd ("Stripe"). The payment is held by Stripe and is not transferred to the driver until delivery is confirmed.
  • Handover code. At handover the driver will ask for your 4-digit handover code. You must only give the code once the goods have been received. Giving the code confirms to us and to the driver that the goods have been handed over.
  • Release to the driver. The payment is released to the driver when you confirm delivery or, if you have not raised a problem, automatically 48 hours after the driver enters your handover code. If something is wrong, report it from your order page within that period.
  • Failed or disputed deliveries. If a delivery fails or is disputed and a refund is due, it is made to the card you paid with, before any payment is released to the driver. Claims about the goods themselves remain subject to our Disputes Policy.
  • No commission. AYLENSALE takes no commission on delivery jobs. The price you pay is the price quoted by the driver.

7. Bookings and deposits

  • Booking deposit. You can reserve a Buy Now lot by paying a card deposit of 10% of the price (minimum £20, never more than the price). The lot is taken off sale for you while the booking is active.
  • Deposit counts toward the price. The deposit is part of the purchase price, not an extra charge.
  • Balance on collection. The remaining balance is paid on site when you collect, by cash or bank transfer, at the same price shown when you booked. No surcharge applies.
  • No-show. If you do not turn up on the booked day (or an agreed new day), the booking may be closed, the lot returned to sale and the deposit is not refunded. We may, at our discretion, cancel a booking and refund the deposit. If you are a consumer and tell us you are cancelling within the cancellation period in section 13 of our Terms and Conditions, we refund the deposit in full.
  • Collection rules. Once you have booked, the normal collection, storage and abandoned goods rules in section 5 apply, with the free storage period counted from your booked collection day.
  • Car boot delivery. If you choose delivery to a car boot sale, the delivery price is quoted per run (from £25 per pallet) after booking. You can pay the quote by card or decline it; the remaining balance for the goods is paid on handover by cash or bank transfer.

8. Consumer rights

Consumer buyers retain statutory protections where applicable. Business buyers acknowledge reduced consumer protections may apply.

9. Prohibited conduct

Shill bidding, bid manipulation, and abusive conduct are prohibited and may result in deposit forfeiture and account termination.
